Sunday Sketch

I know, it’s been a while. Well, better late…

Anyway, I’ve been studying and drawing these tree stumps off and on for several years now. There’s something about the way they stand elevated off the ground by a fully exposed root structure that’s both beautiful and creepy. If I continue to pursue them as a subject, I’ll take the time to explain their history. It may be obvious from their hacked-off, eroded remains that the story is not a happy one.
