A Year to Forget

March 2020 | We had been in Idaho just six months when the shutdowns started. The small gallery in McCall where some of my work was hanging closed shortly after this piece was sold. After gathering up my work, and collecting the few small sales I made, that was that. To this day I’m not sure how I got any painting done between bouts of the flu, or covid, or whatever nasty shit had knocked us down for weeks on end.

Fortunately, I had done a few sketches in both summer and winter at this location; a pasture and barn with Jug Handle Mountain in the background. For sure a cliché subject, but something about the new surroundings grabbed my attention so I attempted to create a unique view of a local landmark. This was the first painting I completed in Idaho.
